The title of \u201cconifer\u201d is given to him for the growth of little cones (about 2 cm in diameter) along the branches.\nBy May the warmth of Spring creates the spur of clumps of six to 16 needles, these of about 3 cm in length,  typical of the tree.\nTamarack is easy to identify for its clumps of needles.
